Academy Divers welcomes you to the largest dedicated PADI Scuba Diving training facility in West Yorkshire. We are proud to hold both the PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre and National Geographic Centre status and also have our very own PADI Course Director on staff.

Our well established and professionally run dive centre here in Wakefield caters for all levels of diving, from total beginner through to all levels of instructor training. Our aim is to encourage divers and instructors from all the diving agencies to use our state of the art facilities to promote and the growth of recreational scuba diving here in West Yorkshire and throughout the UK.

Since Andy Wilkinson started Academy Divers in March 2000, we have worked hard to develop a well organised and friendly dive centre, with an enthusiastic team to run it and we now have that operation which is growing as you read this.

Between the ten instructors and army of dive-masters we can and are happy to pass a great wealth of experience and knowledge onto any new visitors to Academy Divers

Andy himself had his first experience of the aquatic world way back in 1981 whilst stationed in Belize, Central America with the RAF. Unfortunately his training consisted of “put the tank on your back, that in your mouth and follow us”.
Since then he has learnt how to do it properly by following the PADI diver education system and working his way up to Course Director. He now heads the team in training and educating new and not so new divers in safe diving practices and all about the delights of the aquatic world.
